Our Mission

South Jersey Thoroughbred Rescue & Adoption Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to offering adoption services for rescued Thoroughbred horses. Many of our Available Horses have come through the nationally recognized Philadelphia Park Retirement Program, Turning For Home, and although no longer competitive on the track, are looking for loving homes as anything from show horses, trail horses, or pasture pals. Services shall include food, shelter, medical treatment, rehabilitation, training and successful placement of the horse.

About Us

SJTR&A was formed because of a growing awareness of the need for aid for horses on our area who for whatever reasons, end up in bad situations and for some, just need to be appropriately placed into new homes. SJTR&A is a non-profit organization, run by volunteers and directed by Erin Hurley.

As founder and director of Unicorn Handicapped Riding Association, Erin brings to SJTR&A 20 years experience running a non-profit organization and over 30 years of horse experience. She is an avid and active Three-Day Event rider and has been involved in re-training and placing racehorses for many years.
